Mrs & Mrs Thornton

A complete transformation with this kitchen from the original wooden kitchen which created a dark and gloomy environment to an inviting airy space.

The clients desire was to have no wall units but also have a substantial amount of storage for their family, after cleverly designing a bank of tall units housing two single ovens, a combination-microwave oven and extra depth warming drawer, a full height fridge and larder unit with door rack storage and internal pull outs which gave optimum storage for the space.

The clients geology backgrounds really lead the path to this kitchen concept they started by visiting our stone manufacturers sister company in Sheffield where they found the perfect granite slab for their feature island. This decision then helped the options for the Mereway English Revival-Modern Classic cabinets. The choice for the perimeter cabinets to be in a lighter grey tone helps to lift the lightness in the space but amplifies the feature of the granite worktop and anthracite island cabinets.

The team enclosed the wooden beams to give the illusion of a higher ceiling which was lite correctly using spotlights as well as the additional feature lighting on the cornice and plinth.

Extraction is key within a kitchen but visually they aren’t always appealing, the client had come across an image in a magazine which she fell in love with which enclosed a standard in-cabinet extractor into an boxing which she decided to have lined in the quartz matching the splash-backs and perimeter unit worktop to give a durable long lasting finish.

The natural stone tiles maintained the look of a traditional farmhouse while complimenting the rest of the tones used within this room.
